Mikumi National Park is lying just to the north of the famous Selous Game Reserve. Gazetted in 1964 covering an area of 1070 km2, it was later extended in 1975 to cover the current area of 3,230 sq km. the Park is the fifth largest National Park in Tanzania after the Ruaha (20,226 km2), Serengeti (14763 km2), Katavi (4471 km2) and Mkomanzi (3245 km2). It is one ecosystem with Selous making the animal (Elephants, buffalos and Zebras) migrate to and from the nothern part of the reserve into the park.
On arrival you will be met and greet by our guide and driver at Daressalaam Airport / Kilimanajro Airport/ Daressalaam Ferry Terminal. Our representative would be holding a name card for you for easy identification and transfer to Mikumi for game driving.
Day 1: Airport Pickup and Transfer to Mikumi National Park
Upon arrival at Daressalaam Airport/ ferry terminal, meet & assist by our representative & transferred to the Lodge for check in. Deoart for full day game drive exploring Mikumi Game Reserve, picnic lunch shall be provided. The evening and overnight at the Lodge/Camp.
Day 2: Full Day Game Driving
In the morning, after breakfast, leave for a full game drive with a picnic lunch. Mikumi, a relatively small (3230 square kilometers) national park lies 300 kilometers west of Dar-es-Salaam and is the closest park to the capital. It is nestled between the Uluguru Mountains to the east and the Rift Valley escarpments in the Southwest. Although less spectacular regarding flora and fauna, the Mikumi National Park makes for a good impression of the African animal world and is suitable very well for a short visit.
Day 3: Walking Safari and Transfer to Airport/ Ship port Dare-es-salaam
In the morning, after breakfast, walk to Mikumi Genesis snake park and do a 2-hour morning zoo tour. Later, you will experience an en-route game drive as you slowly drive along the main road of Mikumi National Park {50 kilometers) from gate to gate so you can take pictures. Then, drive to Dar es Salaam, where you will arrive in the late evening and be dropped off at a shop or the airport, as you decide.
